This is from Musha Aleste, also known as M.U.S.H.A here in the states. It's actually part of a much larger series (Aleste), most of which has never been released here save for this and space megaforce/super aleste. This is probably due to the fact that the series has its roots in the MSX home computers, which were released in Japan and Europe, but not the US. Musha Aleste in particular has a very strong Japanese mythology theme going for it, and this is reflected very strongly in the music. Composed by "Mr. Sakoda", it's some of the best on the Genesis/Megadrive, and really demonstrates what the system can do. Listen to it on headphones for all the audio details.

Armed Armor (most of the trackes are named something like this) takes place in a stage which starts off with a dancing oni/ogre who reappears later as the boss of said stage. He is indestructible as he prances along the slowly cracking floor, and when he runs away, the floor collapses (good thing you're in a flying robot) to reveal a vast laval cavern. The music fits all of this very well; the dancing ogre, the intense speed which the level reaches about halfway through, and more. It all enhances the experience so much.
