After sitting all winter for over four months, I decided to see how fast the blower would start in sub freezing temperatures. The fuel had to stabilizer in it, either.

  • i am no stranger to this machine .. yours smokes a lot .. they should never smoke like that .. what mix are you using in the blower ?

  • The mix is 40:1 and the blower sat without being used for about 4 months without stabilizer in the fuel, and the temperature was below freezing when I started it. You can check out my other videos of it. But yeah, when it's started on the average day, it starts within 2 pulls and doesn't smoke at all.

  • Nice! I have the exact same blower and wow does it has some power! I'm now saving up for the fs250 trimmer. If you have any comments about, it let me know because I've been thinking about buying it.

  • I've got some videos coming of my trimmers, they've got the 4 mix engine, and they're really great. As for the fs250, hey! You can't go wrong with ANY Stihl, so whatever you like, go 4 it!

  • Yeah, I know I can't go wrong. Stihl is the best man. I think the fs250 is the most powerful trimmer stihl offers. I'm going for it even if it is $500. I'm sure it's well worth it. I actually have another youtube account called stihl1992. So I'll send you a friend request on this account and the other one too. Take care dude.

  • Hey! I got your request. Best of luck to you!

  • nice blower. i have the same one. mine starts on the 3rd or 4th pull every time and donesn't smoke at all. I use 50:1 mix. I also use a different cold start process though.

    1. switch on, choke on

    2. one push of the primer bulb

    3. Hold at full throttle with finger

    4. Pull til it fires (second pull with mine)

    5. Turn off choke

    6. Pull til start (third or fourth with mine)

    7. Release throttle when it starts

I love just about any product Stihl makes.

    Enjoy!

  • nice blower I have same one.

  • Is the BG55 a good blower?

  • @razor2001wgc its smoking beacuse the carb is dirty, this happens when you leave any thing that uses gas to long, ever start up a old car and see the smoke. same thing here .

  • @DanielJaegerFilms

you should be running it on 50:1

  • dam your shit smokes alot on cold start you got to much oil in the mix i never get smoke on mine!!! like that.

  • cool video i like that blower

  • ouche mec regarde a la poire d amorçage de ton carburateur, et ton mélange c est pas le stihl ouche , je dit sa car je travail pour stihl A.G

  • I don't know why your holding the throttle open to start it and arseing on with the choke while its running.

To cold start pretty much anything properly just turn ignition on (if it has it), set to full choke, pull the starter cord till it tries to run. Stop and set choke to open and pull the starter again till it starts and runs, give it 3 seconds or so to tick over before giving it full revs.

  • damn man

  • My craftsman starts 9x faster...
