@drMerkwuerdigliebe Its probably best to learn from all angles to try to disarm your opponent. And hit him in the same time to disable him. maybe fingers to the eyes or throat then you can perhaps take the knife. Or in Filipino martial arts youd try to injure his arm at the same time as trying to block the attack.

Besides, when you're out numbered there's only so much you can do, especially if you're trying to do the least amount of damage possible.

Krav Maga, as the recent event when Israeli Commandos stormed the ship heading to Gaza shows, does not work. Israeli special forces were attacked with sticks and knives and some had guns held to their heads. All Israeli soldiers are highly trained in Krav Maga, but they were all overwhemled by bunch of charity and aid workers. Krav Maga does not work, it's only for show!

what if your out of ammo and a enemy soldiers puts a gun to your head and trys to capture you

krav maga can take you out of this situation

its not used often i geus within sf but its sure handy to know when you haveno weapons or ammo

yes i would agree with you also....special forces don't get attacked on the street....in fact most of the time, they're the ones sneaking up and trying to kill their enemies, i fail to understand how emulating them carries over into self defence.

I agree with skyblaze5. Practice what your good at and cheat. The street is not a dojo or a controled enviorment. Ask your self if you could do that under pressure in a real live situation and if the answer is yes then train with a real sharp knife

I don't care if a defence system is used by two or twenty or a hundred of special forces in the world. I evaluate the style and see if it fits me and if i think it is a real great system. That is all. I agree with the fact that traditional krav maga is a little bit outdated and several techniques have been revisited in different systems not only CKM.
