On the morning of June 10, 2010, an unfortunate fatality on CSX's RF&P Subdivision at Doswell, Virginia, prompted three Amtrak trains to be re-routed during their journey from Washington to Richmond. This occurred over NS tracks from WDC to Orange, and the Buckingham Branch RR from Orange to Doswell, where the trains resumed their journeys on CSX rails.

Thanks for documenting this. Do you know when the last time there were regulary scheduled passenger trains on the Buckingham branch?

Nice shots, love those old signals.
Somewhat related note - do you know any more details of the accident? I read one account that said the worker was hit by Q740, but I couldn't figure what he would have been doing at the interchange to be close enough to the main line to get hit; it didn't add up. Tragic in any case.
