Changing opacity is like mixing a cocktail with, say, 30% active layer and 70% all layers below. Assigning a blend mode is like shining a light or casting a shadow: The active layer infuses those behind it with life.

America likes its lists, and here's another one. Imaging expert and award-winning author Deke McClelland presents his list of the top 40 features in Photoshop—beginning with #40 and working his way up to #1—one weekly video at a time. Some are tools, others are commands, still others are conceptual. All are invaluable. Learn these 40 features and you'll know Photoshop.

  • @MEskandar1881 Hmm I feel tempted to ask you for the link LOL. only kidding I have seen enough retarded tutorials already. I sometimes feel tempted to make a compilation off all the crap tutorials but that would be too cruel and I could lose my channel. It takes me 3 to 6 months to put a tutorial together that is short and straight to the point. Something I learnt while learning C and C++. 1st make a plan then refine plan. Keep refining plan until you have something that makes sense and works.

  • @MicrosoftsourceCode this tutorial was somehow OK compairing to a previous video talking about layer mask. to which i felt dizzy and pain in the head. there was a lot of distractions (left and right, UP and down, then right to left , Up and right Up and left.......!!!!!). this topic can be explained in 5 min rather than 12min if he would go straight to the point.

  • @MEskandar1881 Thanks for the reply. I was starting to think there was something wrong with me. I make tutorials that help me to remember the steps taken to achieve an objective. Having obstacles like too much information is a big put off to many people. Many of my friends will not touch 3d Max or PhotoShop because the people making the tutorials are too long winded in explaining simple logic.

  • I lost track and interest and shifted to another video!

  • @MicrosoftsourceCode yes, this is exactly my opinion.

  • Probably the worst tutorials on the net. Constantly advertising while trying to explain how to achieve an effect in software is too mentally challenging. A tutorials is supposed to be a planed step by step guide on how to do something. Thanks for sharing anyway you have saved me some dollars and a massive headache from listening to these guys rabbit on like there is no tomorrow.

  • It doesn't work!

How can i get two pictures in one layer??

    Because they are seperate...

and i can't see a way to get them both in one!

  • is there a way to animate a layer mask in photoshop? please!!

  • awesome effects on a boring image. :)

  • thank you
