@AlexandraLara I agree Alexandra,Angela Basset is an amazing and great actress but the first black woman who won an oscar was Hattie mcDaniels for her second role in " Gone with the wind" in 1939 no Halle Barry.

@keacus01 actually I heard that the suit was before her death and dementia and she was shown the lyrics of the song bearing her name by her pastor. She took offense to the lyrics and sued. And after her death her lawyers kept the suit going and the family was opposed to the suit.
