Sit back and relax on a calm ride through the heart of the BART system, as this 8-car Fremont train departs Lake Merritt Station in Oakland for Bay Fair Station in San Leandro during the tail end of the morning commute.

Lake Merritt is the first station where the Dublin/Pleasanton-Daly City and Richmond-Fremont lines converge, while Bay Fair is the final transfer opportunity for those wishing to switch between the Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont trains.

In addition to being a popular stop for students attending nearby Laney College, Lake Merritt is also conveniently located within a reasonable walking distance of Oakland's Jack London Square waterfront and Chinatown. Some travel attractions viewable on this ride include riding by Oakland's Fruitvale Village, O.co Coliseum, Interstate 880 and Bayfair Center in San Leandro. Bayfair Center, situated across from Bay Fair Station, was one of the earliest shopping centers in the East Bay, upon opening in August 1957.

In all, BART rides between Lake Merritt and Bay Fair are normally about 15 minutes in both directions. In addition, this stretch is shared not only by the two BART lines mentioned above, but also the Fremont-Daly City line. All three lines share the same tracks between Lake Merritt and Bay Fair. But after either of those two stations are where those three BART lines split in different directions.

  • @MychaelHall24 9 car is better IMHO. I don't care either way. This year I haven't taken any 10 car trains on my morning or evening commute. Only 9 or 8

  • I like 10 Car Fremont Tran.

  • Oh nevermind, it is coming from Daly City. You had my train operator, who operates the SF/Daly City I took at 8:20am a few times I missed my 8:05am train. I also rode back with him to Downtown SF on a Fremont train on my way home after my last final.

  • Nice, this 8 car Fremont must be coming from Daly City. Looks like it was taken past 10am or so.

  • I agree just another great video this is what Orlando Fl was to have since the 1960s but only parts of the Sunrail will up and running in 2014 maybe

  • another great video! thank you for posting these!
