Persis 波斯幻想序曲 James L. Hosay 詹姆斯侯赛因 Maestro Liu, Zhipei 刘志培 in China

Conducted by Maestro Liu, Zhipei 刘志培 as the former director for many years with The China PLA Army Symphonic Concert Band, the only state-level, most prestiges large professional wind ensemble in the Chinese Republic in Beijing.

This was his first returning performance in Beijing after studying and residing in North America. It was also the premiere performance of this American piece in China.

Persis 波斯幻想序曲 is Fantasy-Overture, a modern composition dedicated for wind symphonic ensemble based on a very dramatic and romantic love legend by the American composer James L. Hosay.

Conducted by Liu, Zhipei 刘志培, 曾作为全军最年轻的乐队指挥与中国人民解放军总政军乐团，中国唯一的大型专业交响管乐团多年合作，训练并演出。 这场音乐会是他从北美留学工作及定居7年后首次探访这培养造就并开始他专业音乐及指挥生涯的"老家乐团"，被多年的老领导，老师，老同学及战友们盛情特邀作为乐团客席指挥­进行了非常愉快的乐队排练和演出并录制了CD。这首美国乐曲也是在中国的首演。其中优美而委婉动人的独奏段落是由杰出的双簧管演奏家张甫强上校独奏，应奏由著名的长笛演奏­家徐谨大校演奏, 乐队首席是由优秀的黑管演奏家季冠军大校坐镇。

Persis《波斯幻想序曲》是美國作曲家詹姆斯·侯賽專門為管樂隊創作的一部作品。作曲家運用幻想曲這一自由的 形式創作了這部音畫式的作品。 作品的情節是：一位喜歡冒險的美洲小夥子，幻想中來到了古老的波斯王國，他被這裏奇特 的異域風情深深的吸引，縈繞在四周的大理石雕塑使他的心靈受到了強烈的震憾。在波斯皇 家宮廷花園裏，小夥子巧遇一位嫵媚多情的波斯姑娘，倆人都感到似曾相識，一見鍾情，很 快墜入愛河。然而，波斯宮廷禁止外國人進入，小夥子在宮廷衛士的追殺下，極度悲傷地告 別了波斯姑娘，逃出了波斯王國。

Thanks! I remember there were only four French horns as regular base, but very powerful. All of them are premier class musicians in whole China.

Our highland school band is going to perform this song at Disneyland in Orlando Florida in 2011, probably some time between April to the end of june...................Are you actually Maestro Liu??

Mister liu, I would just like to say that you guys did an amazing job on that song. my high school band played Persis today at a band review. we got first place and i found this to show my parents. Is this the top PLA band?

Great. I was just saying it would've probably sounded better on an oboe just cause of the difference in the sound taht is produced. Our band got gold at canadian nationals with this piece and 2 others 2 weeks ago. Our oboe soloist played a huge part in that. Flawless performance from him. Can't say the same for myself :P I play 1st clarinet and I messed up a few times in the runs on the back page haha.

Well we already had our concert and she did really well. we have an amazing flutist and she played everything perfectly.
