Tme delay construction footage of the slip form concrete pour at the Nutro dog food plant in Victorville CA., December 2004. Slip form construction uses a hydraulic jacking system that raises the form one inch every 6 minutes. The first building in the footage is the main production building. The second building is a silo.

2 inch steel bars are cast vertically in the concrete. They are placed at about 6 foot centres in the centre of the rising walls. A hydraulic climbing system then raises the 3 decks of the casting structure.
Your correct in saying that it uses much less formwork than traditional jumpform as the steel forms here are disassembled and cleaned for reuse. But the working platforms require heavy section of timber, and there will be a lot of concrete waste as the pump is cleaned out each night

I lived down Nisqualli about a 1/2 mile while this was being built.
I'd notice it would get incrementally taller with each passing day.

not a very good location to have your camera setup for the first half of the timelapse.

this is an incredible, and very "green" method of construction. When i think about the amount of formwork required to build this building with this method compared to the amount of formwork that would be necessary if the entire structure were to be build by a traditional cast in place method, its probably like 5%. much less material, and much less labor.
but i am curious by what method does this form rise? is there a rail or track for it to ravel on? and how is the load of the form supported?
