"Technique was not as important to us as what the film has to say"

@Dippeh They actually mention that in the documentary, where Jonathan Taplin (Scorsese's one-time producer) says he'd differentiate Coppola and Scorsese from Lucas and Spielberg, "who really had their thumb on a very specific pulse", and wanted to "make movies that moved everybody." Also, Scorsese did have a big success with Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and then Taxi Driver. I think it's more in terms of the power and budgets they could command, coupled with coming out of film school.

This looks like its a going to be good (just started watching), but one thing I don't like is them associating Scorsese with the blockbuster, surely out of these guys, the denomination would be given primarily, if not solely, to Lucas and Spielberg, mainly due to Jaws and Star Wars (and every bloody movie that followed!), what do you guys think?

Wow! I've been looking for this for a long time; there was a whole series of "American Cinema" on VHS, then they were gone, and for now, thanks to you, there's this! Thanks!!

I agree, but so far, am doing fine without money. Anyway, are you into screenwriting ( Don't mean to finger your business, just curious)

Nice touch, anyway, Are you a filmmaker? and if you don't mind " how old are you", you can say yes or no to the first question and fuck off, if you wish to the second.
Finally finished the backward watching, Pheww!, thanks man.
