The New Frontier - the Exploration of the Solar System. A talk by Andre Brahic.

Andre Brahic first worked on supernovae, the theory of chaos and galactic dynamics in the 1960s. In the 1970s he proposed the first model of velocity dispersion in Saturns rings. He discovered the rings of Neptune in 1984. He was a co-investigator of the Voyager missions and he is now a member of the Cassini Imaging Team. He is currently studying planetary rings and the formation of the Solar System.

This video presentation, part of the Opening Ceremony of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 held in UNESCO, Paris is featured on the IAF channel courtesy of the International Astronomical Union and UNESCO. The event was co-ordinated by the Observatoire de Paris.

unfortunately on this video André Brahic sounds weird, I must admit. But please allow me to say that in French he is absolutely brillant and not boring, he has a great sense of humour and irony (usually it's only a British quality) and on the strict point of view of science he has accomplished respected important discoveries. An other quality of this great man : he is generous with his time and knowledge. Learn French and you will certainly end up by admiring him.
