@joseph150ish The Rancher showed him what him and his crew have become. he doesn't want that anymore. And he had to kill his crew to stop their violence. He couldn't just "tell them" then get on the train. It's about moral respect that those days had that doesn't exist anymore because everyone now thinks they're entitled to shit.

This is a all time classic! The first time I watched this movie and Christian Bales's character got shot I yelled outloud; "Oh My God!" I was that shook up...great movie!
