  • This was written by Ray shortly after the birth of his 1st daughter Louisa.

This version is the original demo.

He wrote this whilst on a disastrous tour of the USA.

He just didnt want to be there.

  • @davlinful This song is performed with such emotion...that puts the longing and seeming pain in his voice into perspective...thanks for the history, I find knowing more about the background of a song just enriches the whole listening experience. Awesome...

  • @spig08 Ray Davies wrote this song, the demo was recorded on May 24th, 1965 at the Regent Sound Studios in London. Cher just covered it. Beautiful song.

  • I looooooove Sia's version so I *had* to hear the original. Greatness :D

  • @davlinful I LOVE, LOVE this! Would you know if it's available to download? I tried ITUNES but the site is EXTREMELY limited! I would appreciate any information you may have. Much thanks for sharing this wonderful piece!

  • Guilt, unfounded hope, and fresh dreams of intimacy, welcome manageable pain by day. With no horizon, suffering is prolonged interminably.

Very nice edits and ideas really drive these feelings home. Excellent call on the scripts.

  • Amazing song !

  • What a beautiful piece of sonic Art. I pisses all over Mona Lisa art wise.

  • @spig08 according to?

  • Considering that Ray Davies wrote this song....Never included it on any of the wonderful albums him and his brother wrote but it kept it as so personal until Chrissie Hynde delivered the consumate version,( I suspect with his blessing.) I cannot for the life of me understand why a nondescript artist like Sia could ever claim ownership of this piece of music. Or anyone could be so arrogant to suppose she has any claim to it.. It belongs souly to Ray Davies, and no one can do it better.

  • Sia did cover this song perfectly! But still this song got its essence

  • @7hs3beat try anika's version
