In part 3 of this case, we get to show the owners beginning to fill the role as a leadership authority figures, which helps to direct Cory correctly. Cory begins to trust and understand his role along the walk and what the owners ask, and expect of him, making it enjoyable for both the dog and owners. With this given structure, Cory no longer needs to attempt to fill the leadership role in the crazy streets of NYC, allowing him to just be a dog (best thing in the world)!

  • as i understand, the choice of collar also has an impact for walking your dog, at the start of this series they had the straps around the chest of the dog, a lot of people with dogs that pull choose these sorts of collars because their dog will make the sort of gagging sound when they pull otherwise. but the dog will actually be able to pull harder because of this and you lose control over where the head is focussed on which in training a dog to follow is important. am I right in this?

  • @4rchf13nd u are correct. in my opinion having a collar or leash around the neck when used correctly provides much better control, effective communication, and easy guidance. Harnesses were originally designed for pulling and while some are now designed to prevent pulling, they really do not help to address why the dog is pulling and instead masks the issue overall. NOt a prob when the dog is already conditioned or is a ow energy dog, or encouraging to pull.

  • @4rchf13nd when looking to make a effective guided correction, i prefer being as natural as possible and getting the dogs attention/altering an unwanted state by the neck area. This is where dogs naturally correct eachother and horse play as well, and not so much from the underbelly where the dog would essentially feel a tug from a harness

  • I have a question about the collar ... Is it a simple fabric choking collar?

  • @reharuko its a simple slip leash that serves as a collar yes. Tht particular leash i believe is actually a cesar millan brand leash which is not as rough on the dogs neck or the handlers hands...quite comfortable actually

  • You are SO much better than Millan! Congrats to your success!

  • @MsZoraZ thanks for the compliment however i look up to CM and can only hop to have what he has and be as successful one day!

  • @Lokiwisper thanks btw! as far as uncut vid...i have over 3 hrs off the stuff but tried to get most of the impt stuff on the vids..this is why i decided to make this vid 3 parts. i wanted to be able to provide more of an explanation and during process. IT is tough bc this makes the vids so much longer and for majority of regular viewers boring. Its important to start the walk off on the right track w the dog not being overly excited at the wrong time.
