I do it like you, but the eHow video on youtube has a girl that, each and every time, puts her hand on the tire whole she mounts. Almost makes it look like she could mount in slow motion, because that tire isn't rolling out from under her. Check it out on youtube (they won;t let me put a link on here, I think). Cheers.

I found it was much easier to get your balance quicker if you don't hold onto the saddle when mounting. That way you have 2 arms to balance with straight away once you get up there and your balance isn't thrown off to the one side. Just my 2 cents worth.
