An Effendemfilm srl & Takaefilms production:

The US has encircled the world with a web of military bases that today amount to more than 700, in 40 countries. It's one of the most powerful forces at play in the world, yet one of the less talked-about. Why do countries like Germany, Italy, Japan still host hundreds of US military bases and thousands US soldiers? what stance has president Obama taken on this subject? This documentary answers these and other questions both through the words of experts Noam Chomsky, Gore Vidal, Chalmers Johnson and through those directly affected by US bases in Italy, Japan and the Indian Ocean.

  • OMG I like totally don't like get it....smh. Oh, well I have to go play my wii after I play my with my wee wee. (=

  • @wda013 Thats my point no matter what you call it "Nature/behavior "analyzing it will change nothing ,you can't make Africans wear condoms (AIDS),you can't make Mexican Gov. officials stop taking bribes, you can't explain to Iran that Israel has a right to exist, people Races and Nationals are what they are,get over it,it's human

behavior people can change only when they want to change, not because their your pet project to change.

  • @davetileguy

    > Why is Human nature always discounted?

it *ought* be mostly discounted, for there is no such thing as the/one "human nature", and we know only little about human nature(s); what can be observed, and what we know about, is human *behaviour* - and this depends strongly on society. The "human nature" argument ist often used to defend some kinds of human behavior, which better should be analyzed and changed/healed.

  • I notice they've blocked the American version on RT with an American voice over. Just so our "handlers" know, It won't work.

  • @davetileguy I think people that have no moral/ethical problem with massive scale domination and exploitation use a cynical understanding of "human nature" as a way to justify the status quo.

"Would it be better than the US?"-- Defining the relative value of competing modes of imperialism is like calculating different degrees of child molestation.

"Human nature" (as you conceive it) and history do not "prove" things; they are not mathematical formulas.

  • @agapeiron Why is Human nature always discounted? If you take something away you cause a vaccum naturally "something" would replace it ,would it be better than the U.S.? human nature and more importantly history proves that someone will want to rule.I geus I'm not really sure where your coming from.

  • @Partisan47 All the forces you listed have this in common: they are based on authoritarian structures of governance that seek to extract and/or control resources via geopolitical strategy.

  • @davetileguy Why does anyone have to be "in charge of the world"? What do you think it is that makes authoritarian social formations want to control everyone?

  • salsa classes? oh come on!

  • NO ONE SHOULD BE IN CHARGE OF THE WORLD. EVERYONE SHOULD BE IN CHARGE OF THEMSELVES. THE USA IS A TYRANT AT HOME AND OVERSEAS
