Anthony Williams Memorial Art Show
October 2011

In October 2011, PCCA will present a memorial retrospective of works by beloved Detroit artist Anthony Williams. Williams died in 2008 following a long career as a teacher and artist in Detroit. The gallery will be filled with works by this extraordinarily gifted painter and draftsman who studied at the School of Arts & Crafts (now called the College for Creative Studies) and subsequently nurtured generations of students. Williams is fondly remembered as a vital part of the Detroit art community, and is sorely missed by friends, colleagues and former students.

In conjunction with this memorial tribute, we're planning a group show of works by former students of Anthony Williams, coordinated by PCCA's Exhibition Committee and Williams' widow Francia. Artists who studied under Williams at the Center for Creative Studies, Paint Creek Center for the Arts or elsewhere in the metropolitan Detroit area are invited to submit samples of their work for review by our Exhibition Committee. We will select work for the show from among these submissions. There is no charge to submit. Artists may e-mail 2 -- 3 jpegs of two dimensional works, along with a resume, brief bio, and a brief statement about their relationship with Anthony Williams to Mary Fortuna at mfortuna@pccart.org. Submissions may also be mailed on a CD to Mary Fortuna at 407 Pine Street, Rochester, MI 48307.
