@kelletman I totally agree that it is great for racing that Goldi is still in training and that she had won so many group 1 races is also great for french racing. I agree that it will be a while before another like goldi comes along but we have to agree to disagree that she is only still in training because she is a mare. On the day CC was superior even without the whole sex allowance. She is still one of the best milers around with th key word being 'one'.
@CharlesOlney23 around and when things are in her favour she can put it up to the best, Yes it is brave of Goldi owners to think about taking on Frankel after what he did to CC, but Goldi as never sherked from a fight, everybody should think twice before knocking this mare as we will be lucky to ever see another horse win so many G1s and remain sound for so long, it is said she is still in love with her racing, the owners are a credit to the racing game for keeping her in training for so long,
@CharlesOlney23 Goldi owners are a rare breed in racing, but saying that, top class colts have been kept in training, Swain was racing as a 6 year old, a few others are: Daylami, Pilsudski,Singspiel. We agree on some things now. I did say CC was the best horse on the day, but I would not agree CC was a better horse than Goldi, I have watched Goldi for many years and as a 4 year old she was as good as anything, but if she is a stride or 2 slower now who cares, she is still 1 of the best milers>
@kelletman hope Goldi races against Frankel but I don't think so as I think conditions will be okay for that race at the arc meeting. Goldi is amazing and I would go so far as to say that if Goldi was racing CC when she was a 4 year old and on home soil she would beat CC but at Ascot CC would win. Its the story of many horses lives. CC needs a straight track with a long run in to pick up so the BCM would never suit him. So I agree Goldi is a greater horse but not superior. In my book they equal
@kelletman This is the last i'm going to say on this matter and I hope that neither of us has to comment here again to argue with each other. I accept that Goldi may have won on another day on another track getting the full sex allowance. Goldi is only still going because she is a mare if she was a colt then she would be at stud by now. She has had 2/3 years as the best world miler and now has handed over the stick. On the day CC won and Goldi cant change it - it may be unfair but thats it.
@CharlesOlney23 The fact that F Head is thinking of taking on Frankel suggest he knows Goldi was below her best at Ascot, and if she was to run Frankel close, that would prove my point.
@CharlesOlney23 hands not least the WGT, I would have liked to see them run on nutral ground in the BCM, but CC as gone now and Goldi is still here, that suggest Goldi is the better horse as she as remained sound for 5 seasons and on her best form she is rated along side CC not below him, it takes a great horse to run at the highest level for so long and remain sound, there is no garantee CC would have been as good as Goldi was at if kept in training till 6, but his legs would not last 3 seasons
@CharlesOlney23 > When Goldi is up with the pace it is unlike her to give away her any advantage, but she did this time, you said your self that Ascot is CC favourite track and CC is best early to mid season, Goldi is very good all season and does hold her form well but she is trained to be at her best in the BCM, and head said he was a little soft with her before the QA, Hannon stable was also flying at Ascot. I said CC was the best horse on the day, but a number of factors played into his >
@CharlesOlney23 You are not the only one getting pissed off, the 2ib did matter at ascot, last years Queen Anne was run in a much faster time, Goldi rating was much higher last year for winning the same race, the times of her first 2 races of the year were a 1s of what she did last year, Hughes said he was suprised that Preslier tuck a pull half way through the race and then tride to quicken, that allowed both CC and Cityscape to close up, he said Preslier was playing a cat and mouse game,>>>
Now that Goldikova was beaten well enough in her last start I think all here can agree that Canford Cliffs was better than her.
