  • Man, PLEASE, do a tutorial on how to fingerpick like that (I guesse I've commented on a lot of covers of this song, but seems that none of the guys who can finger picking like that is listening!! LOL)

  • the picking in this vid really sucks as i was just demonstrating a chord and not the fingerpicking...

put simple, i figured out my own method of fingerpicking due to years of patterned strumming and learning by ear. its funny, a couple months ago i actually looked up some traditional fingerpicking lessons online, and they were crazy. i really sucked at the traditional way of fingerpicking. i would not make a good teacher

  • well, yes. the finger picking is completely inaccurate, im not very good at another man's interprtation of the travis style picking. thats what makes smith's style unique. he didnt use the traditional travis picking method either. it was like a cross between strumming and travis combined with early folk picking. its very hard to emulate. but the point of the vid is to show an alternate Em which is more accessible from the G chord.

  • The chords?

  • Thanks for this, man. I was having some trouble hitting that chord off the G. And I honestly think it sounds better that way! You have to change the picking up a bit to make it sound right, but it works.

  • that would be cool if was the same way elliott smith played it

  • jarive pa

  • Do you know what chords are used in the bridge that starts with "Don't start me tryin now, uh huh uh huh uh huuuh"?

  • Move the 2 up to the 4 on the d string imo...
