This is another view of the positioner doing its' thing actually pulling the whole train ahead a car length to get the next load of coal in position to dump. The train weighs a total of 19000 tons, has engines with total of about 13000 horsepower to pull it, but this single winch with a cable diameter of about 2 or 3 inches ran by a single electric motor can pull the whole train by itself!! watch the other videos

  • It is a single Direct Current electric motor. I can't remember what horsepower it is. It drives a gearbox so big a circus dog couldn't jump over it! The electric motor is about the size of an office desk

  • can I assume a hydraulic motor? Incredible torque.

  • An indisposable clip.

anything can pull anything as long as it has enough torque combined with the right gear ratios...a weed wacker could do it...if you could figure out how to gear it lol.

    Awesome vid nontheless.
