This is me and my friend's coursework piece for A-Level Film Studies. We had no money, no high-tech equipment, just a group of 4 and a camera. We decided to create a powerful opening to a film called 'The Lost Boy'. We each had a role within the project. I directed it and my friends each had to do the cinematography, editing and sound. Synopsis: Behind the image of an everyday teenager lies a troubled and demented mind.
Video game addict, Karl Ames, a student at Penbrooke High has grown a deadly obsession with his popular classmate Penny Hardy.
The socially reclusive individual takes to stalking his victim sending cryptic love messages that he leaves for her to find and taking secret pictures.
Becoming increasingly scared, Penny tells her teachers resulting in Karl's temporary exclusion from Penbrooke.
At home Karl has to deal with his abusive mother who physically abuses him for his actions. Feelings of rejection and isolation soon turn to revenge as Karl sets about ordering weapons from an unauthorised weapons dealer off the
internet, whilst planning the downfall of the one he deems responsible: Penny.
A week passes with Karl stewing in his anger and the weapons soon arrive in a plain, sealed box. In school the students greet him with insults and abuse unaware of arsenal of weapons he now carries by his side. This enrages him as he escalates into an unstable state of mind leaving the lives of Penny and those around her hanging in the balance.
