I was very impressed with D3 and Rain4fuel's HHO torches, so I decided to build one for myself. In so doing I thought I would share this tip I was shown a long time ago. Using a drill press to tap small parts or just about anything else will increase your accuracy and keep your work looking professional. It won't hang to one side or be skewed as it can be when using a tap wrench.

Also I find that using a tap wrench is much more difficult than this method. I can never seem to get the thing tight enough to keep the tap from slipping out on me and I am a fumble bum to the n-th degree, I'll drop the tap wrench 2 or 3 times during the process. Also in order to use a tap wrench to tap something this small you would have to put it in a vice or use a box end wrench to hold the fitting anyway.

I hope you all find this useful, I know the old timer that showed it to me, he's been dead many a year now, I have remembered every time I use it.

  • Very nice Tip! No pun intended!

    What size is the tap?

  • 6mm tap.

  • Thanks for showing such a simple trick, I don't know why it never occurred to me before, but you are right, it's easy to get the tap at a angle. This is the way to do it!

  • Just sharing something an old guy taught me a long time ago. Those old guys when they start sharing need to be video taped for later use. LOL

  • Finally someone explains what you need to put the tip together thanks

  • Thank you. My Truck tanks will produce 1.4 Lpm when both are running and there is about to be a third go into it as well. Just as soon as I get around to making my EFIE. Going to use a dual op amp set up in a non inverting amp configuration with a variable gain of between 1 and 10. That way you are not creating a totally new signal, just adding to the existing one. It may not work, but I think I'll try it. got enough stuff in my junk bin to give it a shot.

  • KY don't get all that cold, but a little heat would be nice. LOL Up where he lives it gets very cold.

  • LOL
