can you imagine this in UK? us teachers will think our power is diminishing and silence everyone else in the class like a CANNON BALL! this teacher was SILENT for more than 3 mins listening and not letting his PRIDE takeover! SUPER!!!

I can't help wondering if Kanamori-sensei decided to bring the hammer down at that point, just to see how the class would respond. Whether they'd come to their classmate's defense or let get left out. Either way, he certainly seems to be proud of the response. I think this definitely shoots down the stereotypical view of unswerving deference to the teacher in a Japanese classroom.

It's sad how we devalue what we have to worship something we see. I for one had lots of great teachers and if you didn't sorry you went to such a crappy school. I love this guy BUT!!! he's not the only one of his kind. Sorry if this upsets anyone that's not my goal.. Just don't forget about all the good teacher you had growing up. If you didn't have any like a said sorry you went to such a crappy school...OR maybe you were just a bad student???
