Actually, the point of all the robotic development in Japan is not to put people out of work, but to deal with the problem of the increasing numbers of the elderly among other things. Japan's population is on the decline. People have fewer children while the elderly live a lot longer. The ultimate goal of much of this development is to provide assistance to the elderly.
