On the street in Tel Aviv where I'm living right now, someplace plays music every Friday when its time for Shabbat. This time, like most weeks, it was "Shalom aleichem"
I dream of a day when EVERYONE will love to sing praises to the Most High and bless His name while keeping His Appointed Times because we all love Him with all our hearts, souls, and resources.
It's very likely one of the synagogues. It's to signal the entrance of Shabbat. They tried to do it by us, but the secular neighbors put a stop to it. Pity. It reminded me to light the candles. My father lives near the Tsanz Hassidut in Netanya. They actually have a siren to tell people Shabbat is entering.
@PinkasJax They have the siren in Jerusalem, too. Obviously. But I'm sure you knew that.
