A device called VIVACE developed at the University of Michigan draws power out of slow water currents to produce clean electricity. It imitates the swim strategy of a school of fish.

  • Only potential problem I see at this moment is it's lifespan... it's clearly using springs in there, which have a limit to how long they can be used. The amount of power it gets over the energy it took to make it, plus the rate at which it gathers energy, will be the factors that determine whether this will be worthwhile or not. I just hope it works out; we need new power sources like fish need water.

  • I think the best is to put a wind farm in the current liberal congress

  • @dixonman1000 Your right but we could use other sources for transportation and use this for appropriate ways and then atleast cut a portion of our dependency on current energy sources.

  • i am in raptures with this concept. Government should fund this project.

  • save mother earth

  • very informative video..

  • this is great

  • i seconded to you river..

  • very interesting and knowledgeable!

  • They seem great for powering cities but what about transportation? Planes can't run off electricity, electric cars aren't efficent, and who knows if they can connect these to a boat and make them work. I do agree though this looks great for cities!

  • What is the scale of the equipment..

  • I need to know whether the power generated is AC or DC.. If Ac then what is the frequency?
