north was Draco, east was the sphinx, south was the pyramids of Giza...to the west? I guess you will have to help find what was pointing west! maybe it is in south or central America somewhere...

if this sphinx has lasted for thousands of years and weathered rain erosion and sand and wind erosion why does it now need constant upkeep and restoration?

maybe the wind and sand is stronger now eh?
and why has the nose disappeared? looks more like vandalism to obscure the original features than weathering given the small amount of weathering elsewhere over thousands of years
