Alfred Newman won nine Academy Awards, more than any other composer in Oscar history. In 1940 he created the now familiar 20th Century Fox fanfare that accompanies that company's logo and precedes every film released by them. Newman also conducted the orchestra for all of Rodgers & Hammerstein's musicals except for "Oklahoma" and "Sound Of Music". Among his many film credits was the main theme for the 1966 film "Nevada Smith" starring Steve McQueen played here by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

  • LOVED THIS MUSIC SINCE I WAS A BOY. Three more action scenes and this movie would have been "the" all time classic western. what a waste of great music. Especially Alfred Newmans Guitar at the end.The birth of the blues.I'd also like to find re-elistment blues(kansas city blues,in" from here to eternity."
