In close cooperation with the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, the European Community therefore has build up a network of basic health services in 10 of 34 provinces contributing to expand access to health to almost 80% of the population and pushing the number of women receiving prenatal care up to 30% in 2006 from 5% in 2003.
Dr. Abdul Wasai Qazizada, Director of Mehterlam Hospital, explains how they are struggling to bring better health services to the rural population of Laghman province.
