  • I just love Art. I saw him twice in concert and got speak to him twice, guess what we talked about? Jazz, of course. :-)

  • I'd never made that connection -- Blakey plays like a big band drummer and the Messengers like a small group big band. Damn right.  This series of videos is really sharp!

  • My fav recordings are any with Curtis Fuller in the band. Front line sounds full, and I just love it. Bu's delight, Caravan, Indestructable, etc. Funny that the sign at 2:24 didn't say anything about the other people who contributed to the group, but oh well.
