Here is another short video of my 8 year old son Troy driving our vintage 1966 T-Bird Jr. at the 2009 Motor Muster at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. This is one of 3 T-Bird Juniors that we displayed at this year's show.
This promotional toy from 1966 features an unrestored body over an updated original chassis. Propulsion comes from the original, modified 6 volt Ford starter motor which was rebuilt and converted to 12 volts. The car is powered by a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery that propels the car much faster than it would have run in the '60s. Now all I have to worry about is my son burning the tread of the tires during his stunt driving!
On an interesting side note: I purchased this car from the original owner. The woman I purchased the car from won the car in 1966 in a drawing at a local Ford dealer in upstate New York. She was 10 at the time and only drove the car for a couple summers before she outgrew it and it got put into storage.
take my word for it it's pretty cool
