Double lift...the three of clubs was on top of the deck that was given to the guy and he makes his "prediction" in his deck a three of clubs. This is why he tells the guy not to look at the card he has selected, otherwise the trick would be garbage as it would not be a three of clubs...so, it doesn't matter what card the guy picks because david will pick up the three of clubs regardless as he executes the double lift...its amazing how easily people are amused.

how virtuous of you. the method and mechanics in most card tricks are fairly simple, its the effect of the trick that's important.

you'll just ruin it for others, both for the audience and magician by revealing the method.
