Beautiful music!
The best part of the opera

This is one of the greatest recorded achievements of al time, with everyone at his absolute best.

George London greatest Wotan ever.

Agree completely. Pieces like this should eliminate any doubt as to why Solti with the Vienna Philharmonic is considered the Gold Standard among Ring recordings. Purchasing this CD collection and using a sound system that will do it justice is about as close to Bayreuth as it gets.

A sonically peerless rendition of the Ring. This recording pushes the technical merits of any audio setup to their absolute limit. It really ought to be encoded and uploaded in as higher quality as possible for the benefit of those who don't own the CDs and even then, I'd strenuously urge everyone who listens to acquire them. Passages like the one from 1:37-2-17 and beyond bring about a transcendental experience if savoured using the right equipment!

This is one of the best "Ring" recording. But one thing: Rheingold is an opera in one act and 4 pictures!
This is my favorite bit of Solti's "Rheingold." Dizzying orchestral sound - and has there ever been a better Donner than Eberhard Wachter?
