Mick Farren talks about the anti Vietnam war march on the US embassy in Grosvenor Square, London, March 1968. The march turned into a pitched battle between demonstrators and mounted police. (edited down from Days in the Life, The Battle of Grosvenor Square, 2000)

  • @TheSwitchCleaner1978 Needs what now? I don't get what you mean by that. Do you mean a peace march? Because I fear that the casualties would be the same - police brutality hasn't gone away unfortunately. :-(

  • Fucking hell! Bastards!

  • THIS SHOULD BE NOW. THIS COUNTRY NEEDS IT NOW.

  • Your claim that there were no mounted police with batons proves that were either not there or you are blind. I was there and mounted police made countless charges into what had been a relatively peaceful demonstration. The polce behaved like thorough bastards on that day, lackies to their American masters.

  • I was there and a lot of these comments about the police are really stupid.

The police looked like police, not like todays stormtroopers. No riot gear, no helmets, no mounted police with batons and the violence was pretty tame by todays standards. Of coase they had to fight the dems back, US marines were waiting in the embassy with orders to repel rioters at any cost ... that is a fact and that is what the police were worried about.

  • the pigs done their nazi thing on bloody sunday and poll tax demo and anti criminal justice bill. disgusting bullies, where is the right to free speech.

  • There have been so many miscarriages of justice when a person is charged with dope and he has not hurt anyone or stolen, It should be in a proper court and not be criminal. Sadly nothing has changed apart from more guns and knives.

  • @Cogniscent1

Well for each serious person there is at least 10 'tourists' I guess what they have to say is something we can learn from. Even if they are a pain in the arse at times. Plenty of the 'serious' people are even more annoying.

My parents where there- they where in the CPGB.

I perfer Hawkwind and the Pink Faries anyway.

  • I've seen worse at Stamford bridge, good to hear Mick Farren .
