LTTE Tigers heavy weapons location shattered - 10-March-2008

Troops have destroyed a heavy weapons centre of the LTTE terrorists at Nagarkovil in Muhamalai. (10/03/2008)

The Media Centre for National Security said 26 terrorists had been killed and many seriously injured in confrontations in several areas in the North.

Army Intelligence confirmed that a heavy weapons location was shattered in an attack in Muhamalai yesterday. Three tiger terrorists were killed in this incident. 10 terrorists died when one of their hideouts at Manthai in Mannar was attacked. The Army and the Air Force jointly carried out the attack. It is believed that a large number of terrorists may have suffered injuries. The Media Centre pointed out that 10 terrorists were killed at Karampekulam, Udayanathankulam, Parlemudai and Periyawalam--Kaddukulam areas in Mannar. There were also confrontations at Perakamam and Pallekkuli areas in Mannar between the security forces and the terrorists. In the meantime, troops launched search operations at Kovilmudai in Vavuniya and Pallekkuli areas in Vavuniya. A large haul of explosives, including firearms, was recovered.
