In this OLD TV SHOW "At Issue" (from The National Endowment For Liberty), Ron Paul is joined by a panel of experts to discuss the power of the jury and to expose the Judge's dirty little secret.

"Jury Nullification" is the power of the Jury to overturn bad laws (of which, we have MANY). It is an important tool guaranteed to citizens serving on jury duty. Jury nullification enables us to declare laws unjust, if we are so inclined.

Most Judges do not want you to know about this power. Juries are only told they can rule "guilty" or "not guilty." They are never told of their third option, "the law is bad."

Shame on bad Judges covering up this power and the corrupt system which allow these arrogant Judges to remain on the bench.

Learn your rights and DO NOT try to get out of jury duty.

As citizens we only have two real powers to keep the Gov't in check:
1) The power to vote
2) The power of the jury

Your rights: Use them or loose them. With rumors of the American Bar Association working to eliminate juries in the future. And with the PROVEN vulnerability of the electronic voting machines, what voice will we have left? Welcome to Slavery, population: YOU!

  • Ron Paul has been fighting this fight for a while...

  • We need a hot asian girl to jump up and down on a trampolene describing the power of Jury Nullification in order for Boobus Americanus to take two seconds to listen to and absorb its implication. Americans are intellectually lazy and generally dumb. They are minimally roused at the moment due to the increase in the cost of gas - though they have no desire to study the real reason for its rise - (monetary inflation, supply/demand imbalances and geo-political instability.)

  • I don't like making it voluntary because then you would have people with god complexes and you would just hope they were anti-government god complexes rather than justice dolling ones.

I think maybe we should just make the punishment for deciding not to be a juror a small one

so most people would choose to do their duty but if you REALLY don't want to, just pay a fine and get out lol

  • wow ron paul amazes me the more I see him!

  • I am currently reading Lysander Spooner's Essay on Trial By Jury by Spooner. I was hooked by the 1st page! No, wait! I was actually hooked by the Title of the book itself called... "Let's ABOLISH Government"! Sounds like an AWESOME IDEA to me! ;-)

  • Yes, there are dumb Indonesians. However, as we are speaking about America, Indonesia and the intellectual curiosity or lackthereof of her inhabitants is not our concern. My original post called many Americans "Boobus Americanus." The quote comes from HL Menken's "Notes on Democracy." I would encourage anyone interested in a good read to pick it up. It is available online for free in .pdf.

"Democracy is also a form of worship. It is the worship of Jackals by Jackasses." H. L. Mencken

  • You do have a point. Some Americans are dumb, as a matter of fact, some Indonesians are dumb, as well as some Russians, and Germans. It's not fair to classify in that sense. I do agree that there is an overwhelming amount of uneducated people arising, I think its largely due to a consumer mentality that media has pounded into America. This could be viewed as an advantage to the business hegemons, or perhaps a disatvantage to others. In anycase we are all ignorant if we don't have front row seets

  • I was unaware that Colbert points out that credit expansion by the Federal Reserve is responsible for massive misallocations of wealth resulting in the business cycle. I thought the papers and the talking heads on TV blamed speculators, oil companies and a lack of regulation for the rise in gas prices. Where did I get that idea?

Incidentally, (and to the point of my comment), how many Americans do you think know about Jury Nullification? 5%? It is not stereotyping if it is true.

  • amazing, amazing.
