Lydia finds herself in a lose-lose situation when she discovers that her chemistry professor Karen Matlin (played by Laurel), who happens to be Dr. Hackett's wife, is having an affair; Dolly comes under fire from Frank and the mayor for taking the law into her own hands.

Lydia, burdened by the weight of one secret after another, struggles to keep hush-hush about Jackie's pregnancy, Paulie's marriage to Plum and Dr. Hackett's cheating wife Karen (played by Laurel). Elsewhere, Dolly's political career is about to end before it even gets started when it is revealed that her beloved father was a felon.
