Tim Curry - Birds Of A Feather

Issued 1978 on A&M 2079.

On "Read My Lips," Tim Curry's first solo album in 1978, he covered the Rough Trade song from their direct-to-disc audiophile album, "Rough Trade Live!" It was a nice bit of exposure for the Toronto group. It's interesting to see what he did with the arrangement, rather turning it into a pop song. The single didn't enter the Billboard charts at all. I offer it as a comparison to the original version, previously posted here:

I just looked up the "Best Of Tim Curry" CD pictured in this video, and at the moment, it is selling for $131. It has been out of print for years, and is a highly sought-after item among collectors.

It's been out of print for about 18 years. There are 17 copies of it on amazon right now, the cheapest one of which is just under $60, but they run up to $155 for a sealed copy. Start saving up!

You'll have to find a copy of it on vinyl, as his three albums have never been issued on CD. I looked for a copy of his "Best Of" CD for ten years, and only found it for sale once... for $375. It is rare as hens' teeth, and prices reflect that.

Both the "Read My Lips" album and the "Best Of Tim Curry" CD have been out of print for years. They can be bought used on the collector's market. A good resource is gemm, which has hundreds of record dealers worldwide in their network, who update their databases regularly. Eventually, everything you ever wanted shows up there. All you have to do is be able to afford it. Sometimes it's cheap, other records/CDs go for three and four figures depending on rarity.

OH Ladies and Gentlemen!!! If you actually knew madam Pope, you would appreciate this that much more!!! This man has a voice that could make you do things that you NEVER thought you would!!! I wish his record company would re release ALL his albums!!! I owned three on vinyl and two on disc. The only one I have left is the greatest hits. I TRULY WANT COPIES OF SYMPLICITY, FEERLESS AND READ MY LIPS! Who can we write too????
