This Chevrolet car is full of surprises and is extremely efficient. The Chevy Volt should save me 9,000 gallons of gas over the next 8-9 years compared to my former SUV.

I just flipped my Prius for a 2013 Volt. Did I make the correct decision?
When I put my Volt in the Hold Drive Mode, electrical range still decreases. Why? The ICE comes on, the fuel gauge comes on, and the battery is grayed out. But the battery shows electrical range decreasing. Does anyone know why?

The estimated range always adjusts based on your recent driving style, current climate mode loads and outside temp.... In the end, you'll find your EV range to be 38 average, higher in warmer weather, 30 in winter if it's cold.

I'm talking about the Hold Mode. Isn't it supposed to stop using the battery and maintain its level until Normal Mode is selected? My Volt isn't doing that; the battery range continues to decrease.

It's supposed to hold most or all of the remaining charge until later use. What I was saying was that the estimated battery range on reserve may be decreasing based on how you are driving in hold mold since it assumes when you switch over to battery that you'll continue driving that way. If it's decreasing continually down to say 9 miles, then something might be wrong.

These cars have an eight year warranty on the battery and the rest of the powertrain. Would you haters shut up about the batteries depleting? It's the best warranty for anything with big batteries.

Love the Prius but my goal was to use as little gas as possible as an end user....

L increases the regeneration anytime you let your foot of the accelerator versus having it in normal mode...... Many Volt owners just drive in L 100% of the time. You mostly drive with one pedal that way and the brake pads should last over 150k miles...

Doesn't using the "L" mode limit charging while coasting down hills, or while drifting to a red light? Is using the "L" really better?
