Website: http://MrEnergyCzar.com 2012 Chevy Volt review and test drive.

This Chevrolet car is full of surprises and is extremely efficient. The Chevy Volt should save me 9,000 gallons of gas over the next 8-9 years compared to my former SUV.

  • Just curious, how many cars do you own?

  • @turbotrauma one car so a pure EV won't work for me....

  • This car is bad for environment, uses electricity which is dirty power, powered primarily by coal. Further damming is the fact that 40% to 60% of the electricity is lost by the time it gets to your outlet. Electricity rates are skyrocketing right now, and expected to double or triple in the next 3-5 years.

Further compounding this horrible concept, is the fact that the cars are subsidized by the tax payer close to some 3 Billion dollars. Or $250,000 per Chevy Volt sold last year.

  • @putittogether Save a soldier, use less oil and drive a Volt...

  • If tesla came out with a more affordable price they would take over the market of eletric cars. But since the cheapest is 50k with no features built in chevy volt will be bought more. Especially since chevy is going to make another volt with twice the battry capacity and make it more affordable.

  • @Bigmoeindahouse I think Tesla is finding out how hard it is to become a successful automaker in the states. Most that have tried the past 100 years have failed....

  • @MrEnergyCzar We pay about $10 a gallon here in Norway, but most of it is taxed (around 65%). I think higher gas prices in the US would have a worse effect on your economy though.

  • if you get 200 mpg in a Volt and drive 10000 miles per year fuel cost is 200 bucks at 4.00/gal.another person who has a brain gets 40 mpg in his Prius over the same 10000 miles. spends 1000 on gas. the volt is saving you 800 dollars per year on gas.the fact that you paid 17,000 more for the Volt means your break even point is 21.25 years before you make up the difference in car prices. this math is slightly wrong, because a Prius gets better than 40mpg and a volt less than 200. good luck Chevy

  • @putittogether Electric car critics always bring up the power plant pollution issue. However, they conveniently ignore the nasty pollution created in the oil/gasoline refining and transportation process before you ever put it in your car. Only 1/3 of your gasoline car's pollution comes from the car itself. The other 2/3 of the pollution is created before you ever purchase the gasoline.

  • @putittogether There have been several studies showing even with the dirtiest power electric vehicles and combustion are a wash pollution wise. The cost of all energy is going up. At least with the grid we control the fuel and not some other country that wants to do us in.

I agree the cars should not be subsidized. The money should go into research instead but your math is way off. The subsidy is a tax credit when you buy a car. It's $7,500 a car which is nothing compared to oil subsidies.

  • @putittogether Your way of thinking and negative attitude shows how intelligent you really are, idiot!....electric cars will take over eventually in the near future. All of these cars will be powered by green energy using solar panels in people's homes using the power of the sun, which means the cars will be recharged off the normal electric grid, which means.....guess what??.......FREE ENERGY & FREE FROM DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL!!!..... but you don't have the power to think, moron!!!
