The In-Town Transit Partnership has spent almost three years designing a bus rapid transit corridor (BRT) that will serve as the backbone for Birmingham's regional transit system. For more information on the In-Town Transit Partnership and other proposed transit related improvements in the Greater Birmingham Area, visit the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birminghamontact website at www.rpcgb.ort or call Darrell Howard, Principal Transportation Planner at 205-264-8441 or dhoward@rpcgb.org.

  • & while Birmingham talks and nothing transpires, Nashville already has their BRT system up and running, as well as a new central station hub and platform for their commuter rail...However, if one ever needs an abundant supply of hot air, look no further than Birmingham, where nothing major ever gets accomplished or completed...

  • Is this just another Birmingham pipe dream??? For what it's worth, it *IS* an impressive presentation!

  • @BisonAP

so how is it really like in brummy? (i mean transit)

  • Breaking News...Birmingham's current mass transit is going to close 16 routes and lay off several employees in January if they don't get any funding for the sorry-assed service they're rendering now, and the current Mayor has cut them off at the knees financially for being so inept and useless. So how in the hell was this BRT going to come to pass? Also, no word from the so-called regional planning commission on their grant application tendered this past summer...Told you so...All bark, no bite.

  • Hell, as a former driver for the MAX Birmingham system, I know for a fact that B'ham is light years behing it's time. Heck, they're still operating the old 1995 Bluebird buses (the ones with the steps). Most of those don't even have working air conditioning. And they're talking about doing this? LMAO

  • The ITP didn't secure the TIGER grant they applied for with this project, they're gonna try again, and hope for a better outcome later this summer...Another swing and a miss for Birmingham...What else is new?

  • "Kliimaxxx" is dead on target, there's no financial funding in place for any of the stuff in this presentation, the Lyric Theater, the Multi-Purpose Facility, the alteration of 1-20/59, the buses, none of that...Birmingham will not accomplish this, it doesn't have the "stones" it takes to be a progressive city. Period!

  • "Klimmaxx06" hit the nail on the head...

  • While Birmingham dreams, Austin, Texas does!!! They just unveiled their new light rail system a few days ago, and this red herring hasn't even gotten off the ground, and the lame local transit system here hasn't even updated the public on whether or not this thing is even still on the table, the new mayor had to go beg for funding from Washington DC last week because the state government's not even giving him the time of day on this, while they try to cram a toll road down this area's throat.

  • I agree this fantasy looks and sounds good, but fact is Birmingham aint gon do shit

  • Birmingham In The United Kingdom Has allready done this and new skyscrapers including the VPT 200 600ft of skyscraper

  • Damn, Birmingham is on the come up.
