Part 2 of 7 of a talk given on the 13/02/2007 by Colin Groves, Professor of Biological Anthropology at the ANU Canberra.
The talk was organized by the Canberra Skeptics and was about the Homo floresiensis remains found on the island of Flores, Indonesia.
Many apologies for the video and audio quality here, this was my first attempt at recording a lecture. Due to YouTubes low resolution, much of the screen text will be lost but Colin does read most of it for us.
Also apologies to the people who asked some very interesting questions after both my tape and battery ran out.

actually ALL ancient history is a bit iffy as to its literal accuracy, not just biblical history. The context of what's been written often makes the author take liberties with the literal truth, there is most always some embellishment of fact, so the basics are true but not every detail exactly. So for example no one would disagree with whether or not Jesus as a historical guy actually lived but alot of what they say he did was almost certainly exaggerated.
hahaha wow, that is a really well written website, it really tears christianity a new butthole. I wanna buy the book.
From wikipedia (I know I know further sourcing necessary):
"Most critical scholars in the fields of history and biblical studies believe...that Jesus was a Galilean Jew who was regarded as a teacher and healer. They also generally accept that he was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of the Roman Prefect of Judaea Pontius Pilate..."
"on the charge of sedition....Aside from these few conclusions, academic studies remain inconclusive about the chronology, the central message of Jesus' preaching, his social class, cultural environment, and religious orientation."
The whole jesus being crucified story is full of holes when you look at non-biblical historical accounts of the Romans in that era. They did not kill people for their religious beliefs as they were pantheists so what was 1 more god to them? That behaviour only started when they adopted christianity as the state religion. Crucifixion was reserved for the lowest of the low with the bodies left to rot, respectful burial was denied. Also why did no one else notice the zombies: Matthew 27:51-53
according to the website there were basically four or so jesuses, and early christianity combined the legacy of them as well as other figures such as asclepius, to form this mythological heroe we all know of. It sounds like they would have crucified him/them/people because he was a troublemaker type/for sedition.
definitely a nonsequitur- he couldn't just ADMIT that he didn't want to- or couldn't- answer my question SO he changed the subject, falling back into the rambling, purely insane, nonsense about some old religious myth. And did you notice the veiled allusion to me going to hell "paying for my own sins"(Im not sure i really have too many that I should be burned for, really) Nice huh? how "christian".
ooo good one! I think I used to use that one back in high school! Oh but don't you know, not everyone knows about Jesus because they are inferior! lol!!!! How convenient for them, because now the religious people get to enslave, oppress the people and steal their land. Damn, maybe WE should believe in this wonderful religion now too. I want my free piece of land too dammit (doncha how expensive real estate is these days)!!!
