Song by The Cog "Son of Satan" Deppe, Nick Sampson, Chris Trutna, and Mike McAlpin is Cognitive Complexity, a.k.a. The Cog. We have tried to classify our music in a Genre. It has proved to be difficult as we have so many different types of songs. Most of our music is metal, but we also have country, alternative, light rock, emotional,and punk songs. We formed about 8 years ago. We started off writing and practicing our own music from day one. Our first show was in Hastings at River Flow Records, a local record store, in 2001. Tony Barrows, the owner of RFR also recorded our First two demos, "Most People Don't Own It." and "II." Our musicianship was lacking at that point to say the least and we knew it. We kept writing and practicing as we all shared the same dream of global domination through music. Soon after our demo we started playing house parties, and out door parties. In 2005 we recorded our third demo,"Artless Ignorance" at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, MN. Pachyderm caught our attention because of all the great bands that have recorded their, such as Nirvana, Soul Asylum, Mudvanyne, and P.J. harvey. In march of 2008 we recorded our 4th demo, "Septic Grail," at Pachyderm Studios. We were signed by Tate Music Group in 2008. We Released our first full length album on june 16th 2009 titled "Is In You Head".In the future we plan on playing out a whole lot more and recording several more albums.We feel as though we are still picking up steam and have many many good times a head of us with The Cog!
