So one of my hobbies is to construct different contraptions such as rocket cars, boobie traps, improvised models of various sorts, etc. This time I was driven to build a trebuchet (for the second time) except I decided I'd try making it a little bigger than before (last time it was only about 2 feet tall with a counterweight of about 5 lbs).

Unfortunately, since 90% of this was (unwisely) improvised the trebuchet is terribly inefficient considering the amount of weight used as the counterbalance. BUT, it does throw a satisfactory distance - not to mention, it works, so w/e :D

I hope you enjoy!

Btw FB movie uploading blows, which is why I decided to upload it with YouTube.

  • The gods are pleased. You retinue expands and many wagons of tributes come your way! ;)

  • @Aar1289 thank you made mini one! shoot balls on fire! :)

  • PS. Aar1289 is "me" (cyric3333). My cyric3333 account was disabled/deleted or something happened to where it doesn't let me login.

  • @gaminggeek9 The sling is made of 2 1/8-inch rope about the length for the arm (to the fulcrum) + a simple oval-shaped denim cutout. To get the projectile to launch at a 45 degree angle (which is optimal) I played with the angle of my release mechanism: headless nail at the end of arm + loop at end of rope which would slide off at X-angle depending on the angle of the nail (which I would bend up and down as necessary). It just takes tweaking!

  • awesome man! were gonna build one soon with telephone poles!!!

  • I built a trubuchet for my science class and it SUCKS. but I don't have time to fix it.

  • great trebuchet i have subscribed thumbs up as well how do you make your sling?

  • OMG I WILL BUILD ONE watch my mini trebuchet shoot 5 meters away sometimes

  • awww jaja bebitoooo! me encantas en el segundo :58 con la patitaa jajaja

    te amo byes.

  • @1hemidemisemi The release pin at the end of the throwing arm is pretty

critical. Try bending the release pin. That may result in a higher trajectory

  • AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING

im building a 4 ft tall one and i need some help on the sling

  • how did you get the sling to go off at the right time

  • hey man, can u please show how you made your sling? I am making a catapult for school and the sling is the last and most important part. I just need to see how its connected to the trebuchet (the two strings) and its overall shape.

  • i've seen bigger in my class this group made a very big catapult.they welded it and it made out of metal its intense.

  • 3:06 w00t w00t!!!!! I just dont understand how such a small brick can hold up the excessive counterweight

  • Very nice! I have just built a 16 foot trebuchet, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting the sling to work properly. It either throws it straight up or completely horizontal. Do you have any suggestions?
