    This song isn't really about oppression by the law (although I think that is something Jello Biafra acknowledged and opposed), but more about the murders of George Mascone and Harvey Milk by Dan White, and the subsequent mindfuck of a trial where White got off with voluntary manslaughter where he should have gottten 2 counts of first-degree murder.

    The original "I Fought The Law" was actually done by The Crickets in the 50s. The Clash's cover of the song is the most famous version though.
