Each to their own but I LOVE the sublime colors mid-winter in the North - although I still prefer Nome to Fairbanks, where there are no hills or trees to block the sun!

Yeah, it can take a bit to adjust to living here, but the people that STAY are here because they WANT to be! Those who don't - they WILL leave!! =)) We still whine about the cold and dark, but we've earned that right by sticking it out year after year. AND - those light all night summers are sure welcomed on the opposite end of the spectrum! I love Fairbanks!

Not when the Northern lights are out. How depressing is it to have a hurricane or a tornado or a flood take away your home. Give me Fairbanks any day

Thats up on a hill, show it from the valley, the sun doesnt get above the trees

@Svperstarr Also YES it was depressing. All anyone does at UAF is drink and take drugs. The cops dont even care.

I lived in Fairbanks for 2 years. I hated going to UAF so much. Moved to AZ, its beautiful here.

How depressing to have such a short day...
the long days in summer make up for it though

That low sunlight is amazing. I know I would love it there in winter. I love the darkness. :)
