Many regard the Caille Roulette as the ultimate collectible.
Caille made the cabinets in both oak and mahogany. The majority of the machines that have been found are oak. Only a handful of mahogany Roulettes have been found.
The idea of the game is simple. The players bets a coin on one or more colors. Once the bets are made the player turns a large handle on the side.
Once the handle is cranked 360 degrees the wheel starts to spin and the ball flies out of the pocket.
Eventually the wheel and the ball slows down and the ball falls into a pocket on the wheel. If the pocket matches the color that the player bet on then he is paid accordingly.
Payoffs are 2 for 1, 5 for 1, 10 for 1, 14 for 1, 20 for 1 and 40 for 1 (depending on the color that came up).
The Caille Roulette was the first machine to sell for over $10,000. That was back in the 1970s.
These machines are very scarce. One sold at auction in 1996 and another one did not show up at public auction until 2005, almost 10 years!
Caille also made a counter top model which is called the Aristocrat. The Aristocrat is also a very collectible machine. They also don't show up very often but when they do, they 'only' get 10% - 15% of what the full size model sells for.
The machine featured here is a mahogany model and is in a private collection.
The owner wishes to remain anonymous but gave me permission to show the photos and videos of this machine.
Very neat! Crazy to see the ball going the same direction as the wheel. Was the owner dropping chips into the machine? Does this pay out automatically?

Yes, the machine allows you to bet on what color will come up. If the balls falls in the color that you bet on then it pays off in coins. Payouts range from 2 coins up to 40 coins.
