This is a quick interview with Alan Wilder, done by Daniel Barassi (Depeche Mode webmaster), after the aftershow party at the O2 show of Depeche Mode.

The live footage on the left is Mr Wilder and Mr Gore performing Somebody at the Royal Albert Hall, a few days earlier.

  • These guys should get together, there work is superb! People can't stand all the fake music that is out today let these guys put out some real art in music.

  • Alot of people diss their albums since he left, but apart from Exciter being mediocre, they were really good. They sound much better than most people anticipated when Alan left. Despite this, I agree that they would be even more amazing with him in the group. Here's to a potential full reunion!

  • A lot of people are probably going to severely dislike me for my opinion, but I find it unfortunate that despite the fact that 'Somebody' is one of Depeche Mode's more known songs, it is also one of their more generic. I know that many people have fond adolescent memories of having their first dance with someone special, etc., but I feel that 'Question of Lust' would have been a better choice.

  • I really like Alan as he is my favourite member of Depeche Mode and his a great musician and his very a genesis and he seems to be a really nice gentleman and Depeche Mode were better when he was in the band .

  • Alan Wilder's version of 'In Chains' gives a taste of what SOTU could have been, and the albums that preceded it. It's as though he just picked up where SOFAD left off with that mix. Martin Gore's songwriting is still as good as it always was, but Depeche suffer without Alan's production skills. I doubt Alan would ever become a band member again, but he could join them as a producer. Depeche Mode would become the biggest band in the world.......again!!

  • @smithdivision

"They have never reached the same heights since he left and never will unless he returns."

    Contraction: Album; Ultra.

  • true that smith. Wilder changed their music for the better. his live drumming on the devotional tour was great. (my fav album) i hope they reunite for their last album.

  • @smithdivision Well it would be great for the fans but unless they are fully into the idea it should not happen and to be honest i think they have all moved well on. Alan has been doing his own thing for a long time and he shouldnt give it up just because of pressure from fans.

  • wow! that's very nice of alan to say those words to his former bandmates. and still he looks great despite the age. still got that nice smile. seeing him play again with the band is totally nostalgic. goodluck alan.

  • @smithdivision because Dave would never accept this, i guess... unfortunatly........ It would be so great for us, for the band, and for their sound, that as you say and your totally right, the sound has never been as good as when Alan was in.... ( sorry for my bad english, i'm just french lol )
