@bpmartinelli she lacks some fire in her singing, but you must admit that she sells the surreality of this particular scene very well with her otherworldly-clear voice and her often-spastic acting. Other than that her singing is fantastic for opera. Very clear and very pure.

The look of the woman next to Edgardo at 3:50 - "Man, you fucked this up."

It most likely has nothing to do with the Met at all. It probably has to do with whatever contract Ms. Dessay has with her record companies. We lose a lot due to companies wanting sole rights for certain singers on DVD.

Wow interesting comments! This is beautiful :)

OK Met lets hope you had the good sense to make a DVD of Natalie's PHENOMENAL March 19th performance if for no other reason than to make up for failing to do so in 2009. You gave it to Netrebko over Dessay or Damrau then. Here is your chance for a "do-over." Natalie has gotten even better since then. Anna is a perfectly fine lyric soprano but she was way out of her element in this coloratura role. Give us this one with Natalie & thanks for the HD Live theater broadcast. It was great!!

I find it strange that to highlight any contemporary singer, it has to say she is better than Anna Netrebko.
I have seen comments that Elina Garanca sings better and is prettier than Anna. Nino Machdaise if it is a true soprano, and Anna is not. Now I see that to exalt NatalieDessay have to say that her.
But something has to be Anna, that anybody may have reference her to say that other is better.

WOW!! I have been looking forward to seeing this for ages, have just seen it and it was soooo fantastic!!! Natalie was incredible and so inspiring for a young singer!!! Thank you Met for broadcasting this and other amazing operas!! :D

Beautiful performance today by Natalie as Lucia at the Met

Breathtaking finale of the opera -I absolutely love the way how the men carry Lucia up the stairs as normally the curtain would have closed seconds after the last note.
And isn't Miss Dessay stunning -a remarkable combination of singer and actress! Not very often found in opera. When she retires from singing there's a great career waiting for her as an actress.

I am not an opera buff but feel blessed to have seen this. Thank you
I don't like Netrebko in this role as well, but saying those bad things about her is very disrespectfull. It's not even a critic: it's just an ordinary ofense.
