A Conversation with James Hansen

Dr. James Hansen, Director of NASAs Goddard Institute for Space Studies, is considered by many to be the foremost climatologist in the world. From his New York City office, he spoke with Climate Crisis Coalition Coordinator Tom Stokes, on May 10, 2008, about the science of climate change, the urgency of enacting effective climate legislation and why he is speaking out about it.

Dr. Hansen believes that we should enact a carbon tax with the revenue recycled back to the people, rather than a cap-and-trade system.

Hansen is a better communicator than he credits himself. He defers to Stephen Schneider and Michael Oppenheimer when possible. They are two very qualified scientists and are excellent speakers.

Excellent, thanks for this video. And yes nuclear is feasible, read some of Hansen's papers from his website. He explains about the new generation nuclear reactors, they are not the old breeder reactors. But yes, clean coal is total BS. CCS is BS.

When I hear someone claim the Earth is flat or the Evolution is a lie then I assume that person lacks the capacity to understand science & how it works...The same applies to ridiculous comments like yours! When you say something ridiculous you should expect a equally ridiculous reply! The evidence behind Anthropogenic Climate Change is OVERWHELMING just as the evidence for a spherical Earth & Evolution is OVERWHELMING...You just need to READ!!

@cthulhu11111111 Oh yes it is! Now, is there a god? Well, my MOM said, "We are not meant to know". The gist is that compared to we mortals, REAL climatologists are GODS. I certainly BELIEVE they are & so, it follows that we (you included) are not meant to understand them. Even if they move in mysterious WAYS. We should, instead, fear them for they are our BETTERS. We are mere Demigods. They are the real thing. And not a fizzy drink that truly stupid people on TV say they are just to entertain.

well first co2 levels are rising as well and the world is warming. the grand solar minimum has offset some of the warming...although not for long...but not enough to turn it into cooling.
